Fishing Reports:

08/08/06

Looks like we are in for a pretty good weekend for the Coho Derby. The weather looks stable for now. Fish are still hitting well but they seem to have moved offshore a little. Look in 70 to 100 fow near the bottom. Hot colors for the week have been Green Splatter, Broken taillight, and Sea gull Snot. All in Mags. Dodger fly still is working in greens and blue. Silver Hordes are selling like crazy. Boat speeds are around 2.6 or so.Good luck Jeff

08/05/06

Very good day so far we have cleaned 450 fish. Look in 50 to 100 fow in the bottom half during the day. Early and late the fish are higher and shallower.Hot colors have not changed much but the one that keeps selling is Green Frog.Gatta go; I'm going tonight. The fish lost the battle today!! Jeff

07/28/06

Fishing is excellent, Big kings are close to shore so enjoy it for now. Look in 30 to 50 fow north or south of the harbor. The piers are packed with fisherman as well. Hot colors are Nightmare, jawbreaker and green frog. The folks on the pier are using green glow flipper spoons and Little Cloe. jeff

07/17/06

This week was excellent. The cleaning station did over 300 fish yesterday alone. Look for fish in 60 to 90 fow but keep a eye on water temperature as we now have a south west wind blowing.Long leads are still working and the fish are close to the bottom. There is still an early and late bite. Favorite colors are all cracked ice glow mag, purple black, wonderbread glow, and jawbreaker glow. Flasher fly favorites are green with glow and light blue crinkle. Jeff

07/07/06

Fishing is pretty good this week. Most boats are working in 50 to 130 f.o.w. The kings are still hugging the bottom and the rainbows are hitting on top so get out and enjoy it. Boat speeds are starting to climb as the water warms. Try 2.6 for kings and as high as 3.5 for rainbows. Favorite colors of the week were purple splatter and wonderbread in mags. Long leads are still popular. Jeff

06/30/06

Lots of fish are coming in for cleaning today. There is a tournament this weekend so there will be quite a few boats out there. Look for fish in closer than last week, say 50 to 100ft of water and near the bottom. Favorite colors this week has been green flies, wonderbread, green glow, and green splatter in a mag. There is starting to be a very early and late bite like we had last year. Rainbows are as far out as 270 fow. Jeff

06/23/06

Today was the kids Coho derby and there were a bunch of them. To give the kids credit, they did catch fish under some difficult conditions. Everybody had fun. Lots of fish are still here so take advantage of it if you can. Look for kings in 80 to 140 near the bottom. Rainbows and coho are still on top.Long leads, boat speeds are 2.4 to 3.3. Jeff

06/15/06

It's been pretty good this week. Stable weather sure helps. Kings are showing up much more often than last week. Look for them in about a hundred ft of water close to the bottom. They seem to want to feed early and late. Hot colors are wonderbread, jawbreaker and green flies. Rainbows and coho are still here. Look for them a ways out say 150ft or so and higher up. Silver on silver and orange seem to be the favorites. Jeff

06/10/06

The winds have been blowing hard the past few days but the seas are calming a little. Fish are hitting well when the boats get out. Look in 100ft of water and go out from there. Wonderbread glow and jawbreaker are hot this week. Kings are 50 ft down or so and the rainbows are still on top. Try a small red dodger set up with green/gold or rasberry fly with a very long lead off the boards. Jeff

05/27/06

Excellent day today. We cleaned over 150 fish at the shop. Lots of boats are catching rainbows in 140 to 300 ft of water south of the harbor. I kept hearing 35,41,and 65 ft down with long leads. Hot colors today were still flipper type spoons 5/8 oz in black/red,silver/silver, red/silver and wonderbread. We are still seeing alot of kings and coho but they seem to be moving offshore a little. Don't hesitate to put out a slide diver or board because they are still hanging on top as well.Pretty good for this time of year. Jeff

05/25/06

Just in time for the big weekend, The fish are here. I visited with a couple boats this week that had some great catches. Look for kings in shallow water wherever there is bait. The boat Jacks or Better did real well doing this early in the week.Rainbow and coho are out in deeper water, say 140 to 240 and they are on top. Favorite baits are silver on silver rattle and iced wonderbread spoons for rainbow and coho The kings are hitting darker colors. Jeff

05/14/06

It's been raining here alot latly but the fish don't seem to mind. Reports from the boats are scattered but look for the fish between 100ft and 250 ft. They are up high in the water and are hitting flipper spoons well. Try silver, green and blue. It might be a good idea to try a dodger fly set up off a diver as well. Biggest fish this weekend was a 13+ lb. rainbow. Jeff

09/11/05

Fishing this morning was very good. There seems to be two different groups to choose from. The first is the 4 yr olds in the gap area. The second is in 175 to 250 ft of water about 60 ft down. Hot baits today were frog, wonderbread and jawbreaker in spoons, blue green and mirage in flies and glow plugs early and late in the day. Jeff

09/04/05

Fishing has been slow this past week but it's improving today. There have been alot of nice fish coming into the shop this morning. The best catches are coming from the north or straight out in 120 to 200 ft of water about 50 or more down. The hottest baits this morning were Jawbreaker and frog in spoons and glows in plugs. Jeff

08/24/05

Fishing has been excellent recently as the derby caught 2600 fish. So you can see that we have been very busy around here. The fish right now are in 80 to 130 ft of water and look for them in the lower half. Waters near shore are warm so the piers are slow as well.Long leads are still being used by most people and dodger fly went well this morning. Don't get stuck in one presentation as the fish seem to be changing what they want all during the day and evening.Try a little of everything and keep changing. Jeff

08/04/05

The west winds have helped us out again. Look for fish much shallower. Try 30 to 50 ft. The water is cooler now so enjoy. Glow baits are still the best. Fish early and late but there is an afternoon bite as well. Long leads and the boat speeds are 2.4 to 3 mph This looks like combat fishing at it's finest.Wonderbread glow is smoking. Jeff

07/31/05

Fishing today was excellent. I think we cleaned about 400 so far today. Look for fish in 90 to 130 ft of water, at least 65 down. Early and late they will be closer to the top. Favorite colors the past couple days are wonderbread mag on a diver, green spoons as the light gets brighter in the morning and Silver Horde Plugs.Still is an early bite and long leads are still the order of the day. Jeff

07/26/05

The drizzle this morning hasn't stopped the fish from hitting. Look in 40 to 60 ft close to the bottom. Glow baits are still going strong. The dodger fly bite is spotty for some boats. The leads from the ball are still very long.Boat speed is 2.2 to 2.7 Jeff

07/23/05

Thunderstorms passed through this afternoon but the fish still seemed to bite well after it got done with.Hot baits for the morning were wonderbread and Silver colored silver hordes. For the evening bite it seemed to be it was green and green glow. Dodger fly didn't do as well today as it did yesterday. Look for fish early and late in 50 to 70 ft.Try strong glows early and check the gap when you go as it could really light up if there is water pumping out of the river.Jeff

07/21/05

Not alot has changed the past few days. The fish are still biting very well. Look in 50 to 90 ft. of water and close to the bottom. It's still a very good early bite so get out as quick as possible. The diver bite can be great in the early morning. Hot colors are still the same but two or three boats told me today that frog glow was working real well. Jeff

07/16/05

It's hard to beat the fish we saw come into the store so far today. The fish are in 50 to 90 ft this morning and they are chewing. Keep the baits close to the bottom and the boat speed about 2.1 for dodger fly and 2.7 for spoons. Flies are green and blue, spoons are glow and silver hordes are kicking butt early and late in the day. Jeff

07/15/05

Notheast winds were predicted to change things around here but really didn't. The fish have really not moved much. Look for them in 80 to 100 ft of water about 65 down or more as there is a thermal forming out there in spots. The water on top is warm. Hot selling baits the past few days are Glow/black, black/green,cracked Ice glow mag, and brain damage. J-plugs and Silver Hordes are hot if they glow and more folks are running Dodger fly. Try a green blue combo or a smelt pattern. Jeff

07/11/05

Pretty good again today for fishing. Look in slightly deeper water tomorrow but look at the gap before you go out. There are some big kings hitting in there real early in the morning before light and again at dusk. Glow baits are still hot, and finally I'm starting to hear dodger fly set ups are working. Some folks are having trouble catching fish, but when I talk to them they are always running short leads from the ball so take it for what it's worth. Jeff

07/10/05

Fishing this morning was very good again. The fish have moved offshore a little so try for them in 60 to 100 ft of water and look for them about 40 ft down or more. Hot colors today were green- glow red demon and wonderbread glow. Silver Horde plugs are also hot if they glow. Yesterday we cleaned over 200 fish here at the store and today we are on about the same pace so I would expect them to go good tonight. Jeff

07/08/05

Fishing has been excellent! Most boats are working 30 to 60, north and south of the harbor. Hot baits this week: cracked ice mag glow rattle, wonderbread glow, glow in the dark silver horde plugs. The lake is showing signs of turning over, surface temps are going up, so the fish may be on the move.

07/02/05

Fishing is a little scrambled because of the west winds lately. The best bite is north of the harbor to the pigeon river. Try shallow, say 30 to 60 ft of water and then again out to say 130 ft. There are a whole bunch of big kings coming in to be cleaned. Wednesday night we cleaned over a thousand pounds of fish in the evening. Hot baits are Silver Hordes with Glow and Snow white the past couple days. Long leads are still the favorite. The pier has slowed today but look for them tomorrow. The hot bait here is glow wonderbread in a casting spoon.Live bait is frozen alwives on the bottom. Jeff

06/30/05

Fishing in Sheboygan has just exploded this week. The Wednesday Night League boats pulled in over a thousand pounds (1,000 lbs.) of fish last night! The biggest fish was 18.5 lbs. The boats with the biggest catches were working just outside the gap in 30 to 40 feet of water. The debate continued all night on whether it was a spoon or plug bite. With so many boats working the gap, it looked like the fall harbor patrol had come early this year. It’s also great to see so many fish coming off the piers. For those boats that didn’t feel like combat fishing, the 40 to 100 foot area was also producing fish. Magnum spoons and some dodger fly combinations off the riggers were taking fish, while Cohoes and Rainbows were snapping at the boards.

06/28/05

Fishing is next to terrific. The cold water has moved closer to shore and so have the fish. Most boats are working from right outside the gap to 80 feet. Fish seem to be hanging in the top fifty feet with spoons and J-Plugs all taking fish. Favorite colors are wonderbread, all craked ice glow in a mag, the mighty frog, and purple/black. Long leads are still the order of the day, anywhere from 35 feet to 100 feet.

06/21/05

Fishing continues to be good. Try 120 to 160 ft. of water a little north of the harbor. The fish are still on top but I would expect them to drop down a little during the afternoon hours. If they do, put on a little weight. The rainbows are hitting a flipper spoon on top like crazy and the kings seem to prefer glow baits as they are deeper down . Jeff

06/19/05

For those of you that don't know, we also operate the wharf Bait and Tackle and we clean alot of fish here every day so we talk to the folks all the time. Yesterday the catches were very good. There are fish in 40 to 60 ft. of water (kings) and there are fish in 300 ft of water on top as well. Seems like it's the right time to go fishing.Hot baits yesterday were green/glow,orange/glow magnum, and red demon. The leads are still very long and the boat speed was 2.5 to 2.7 but some boats are going real fast 3 to 4 mph Jeff

06/16/05

Fishing last night really picked up. one of the boats in the league had 71 lbs. The fish were caught in much shallower water. Look for them in 40 to 80 ft. of water. Hot colors were copper with glow, wonderbread glow, and red demon. There are lots of kings around so have fun. Jeff

06/14/05

Fishing this week has been somewhat spotty. But the good news is that the fish are moving closer to shore. Try 80 to 140 ft. of water and look for the the fish from the surface to 60 ft. down. The hottest baits this week have been black and glow with a red ladder or purple ladder, wonderbread, and all cracked Ice Glow. Long leads are still the favorite as the water is clear. The piers are starting to show signs of alot of fish. This is because of alot of bait is hanging around the area. The best catch today was 14 fish in four hours fishing with 3 people on the boat in 120 ft. of water 30ft. down.

06/04/05

Fishing continues to be very good for this time of year. There are lots of rainbows and coho off shore between 180 ft and 260 feet of water. Use long leads as the water is clear and the fish are spooky. There are also kings hanging aroud in the same water but they are deeper. Try 40 to 120 feet down. Rainbows seem to want rattsnakes and JB Flipper spoons in Silver on silver or red. The kings are hitting cracked icw glow magnum spoons and iced wonderbread magnum is working well. If you're using a dodger fly set up try green flies.
